I began my career as an Early Childhood educator later in life, after I had spent many years working as a medical office assistant.
After graduating from North Island College, I worked for 8 years at Sunshine Playschool. After that I worked at Humpty Dumpty, Joyland, and Discovery Childcare Centre. While at these daycares and preschools I spent most of my time working with special needs children. It was while I was supporting a child that I stumbled upon Fun Family Phonics. I was immediately interested in a program that could make reading so easy, as well as fun for the children.
I had the privilege of staying at the author of the program's house (Muriel Enderby) while I attended training in Whiterock. This great lady is still training teachers at the age of 72.
After completing my training I started using this program in daycares and in my home. Last year I had my first 2 students successfully complete the program, and I will be doing tutoring full time in the fall.
